CEC defeats rival Duluth East

Cloquet-Esko-Carlton senior Aaron Baker entered the season hoping to celebrate a high school boys hockey state tournament berth with his twin brother, Austin.

Those hopes were dashed when Austin suffered a lacerated spleen in a recent game against St. Cloud Tech, an injury that will cost the forward his entire season.

But Aaron Baker’s performance Thursday night in a 4-2 win over Duluth East keeps the Lumberjacks’ goal of a section title on track. Baker stopped 32 shots as Cloquet-Esko-Carlton improved to 4-2-1. His brother’s injury was on his mind afterward.
