Youso's hat trick paces Broncos to sixth straight win
It took nearly thirty minutes of hockey, but a short handed goal by Jake Youso gave the Falls Broncos hockey team a lead on their way to a 4-1 win over Thief River Falls Friday night at Bronco Arena.
With the Prowlers on a power play, defenseman Spencer Johnson attempted to pass the puck in front of the Bronco net from the corner just inside the blue line.
Bronco defenseman Eric Olson intercepted the pass and his lead pass hit Youso in stride. Youso then beat Prowler goalie Zane Gothberg top shelf to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead. Youso added another goal with an assist from Olson with less than a minute to go in the period courtesy of a turnover.
Prior to that, Gothberg had been the story of the game, stopping several chances. The Prowlers killed a 5 on 3 Falls advantage in the first period. Although the Falls carried the play to Thief River throughout the first period, the score was 0-0 at the intermission.
