Section 6AA Playoffs - Team-By-Team Preview

Section 6AA Playoff Preview

My pick: Minnetonka

I thought about picking Benilde-St. Margaret's initially but I have not given Minnetonka their proper respect all season. Sure, I've had them in the top five from early on but I honestly kept thinking that they would start to fall off and lose a few more than they have. I was wrong. They continue to thrive under first year head coach Brian Urick. The exclamation point on a sensational regular season came this past Saturday with a win over their heated rivals, the Edina Hornets.

The top four seeds are heads above the rest of the Section 6AA field but Wayzata and Robbinsdale Armstrong have upset potential.

Minnetonka has beaten Benilde-St. Margaret's, 3-2, and Eden Prairie, 5-1, during the season. The Skippers split victories with Hopkins.

Of the quarterfinal games, Hopkins has the most to worry about against Wayzata having tied them once in January but defeated the Trojans 5-1 last week.

I am expecting a Minnetonka vs. Benilde-St. Margaret's final. Either team will represent well at state.
