Thursday's (12/11) Top Five Performances in Minnesota High School Boys Hockey

Centennial Cougars
| Centennial scored 15 goals in their 15-3 win over Coon Rapids. The Cougars scored seven in the 1st period, six in the 2nd, and two in the 3rd. Nine different players scored goals. 14 players had at least one assist. They scored a total of 38 points with the assists included. Senior Willie Hess had four goals and two assists and junior Jordan Lovick had a goal and five assists to lead the team with six points apiece.

2. Duluth East Greyhounds | Duluth East shutout their third straight opponent to start the season. This time they beat a young but strong Minnetonka Skippers club 2-0 at the new Heritage Arena in Duluth. Highly touted senior and UMD recruit Max Tardy scored the 2nd goal in the 2nd period. Junior defenseman Kyle Lutska scored the game-winner early in first period. Senior goalie Matt Cooper earned his third shutout on 22 saves.

3. Ryne Hanson (12) - Marshall Tigers | Hanson scored five of Marshall six goals including a pure hat track in the 2nd period to lead the Tigers past the Luverne Cardinals 6-4.

4. Marcus Voss (12) - St. Louis Park Orioles | Voss completed a natural hat track by scoring a goal in the 2nd period and two in the 3rd. The third goal was also the game-winner for St. Louis Park. The Orioles were down 2-0 late in the 2nd period to Bloomington Kennedy before Voss helped bring them back all the way for the win.

5. Kevin McGuire (12) - St. Cloud Apollo Eagles | The senior goaltender stopped 50 of 52 shots to be the difference maker in the Eagles 4-2 win over Brainerd/Pillager/Pierz on Thursday night. The Eagles were outshot 52-20.

Honorable mention:

Ben Podobinski (12) - Roseville Raiders | Podobinski had 23 saves and a shutout to help the Raiders upset Stillwater Area 2-0.

Tyler Landman (12) - Roseau Rams | Landman put up a hat trick and threw in an assist to get the Rams back on track with a win over East Grand Forks 6-1.

Maple Grove Crimson | The Crimson used six different scorers and senior Sean Elmer pitched a shutout in goal in their 6-0 win over the Rebels of Champlin Park. Elmer had 17 saves. Kaufman, Horton, Gross, Malone, Dee, and Davis all scored for the Crimson who had 33 shots on goal for the game. Maple Grove is a rising threat in the Northwest Suburban Conference and Section 5AA.
