“It’s not often that you’re able to post consecutive shutouts, let alone four the past five,” said Wayzata head coach Carl Davis. “We have played very well in the defensive zone. Ty has been so solid for us and our defensemen are playing with a lot of confidence.”
Senior captain Ty Simcoe was recently ranked one of the top five goaltenders in Class AA hockey, as measured by save percentage (.916). Simcoe made 175 saves in nine games with a goals-against average of 1.72.
The Wayzata defensive team is anchored by seniors Mike Drasher, David Russ, Dan Raquet and Lucas Steinbach, and junior Lucas Whelan and sophomore D.J. Jones. “They complement each other very well,” said

Wayzata overpowered Shakopee with a 53-3 advantage in shots on goal. Junior center Danny Walsh had a hat trick and three assists. Junior forward Scott Holm had two goals and three assists and sophomore forward Bryan Tabery scored once and assisted on three other goals. Junior forward Seth Barnes scored twice and added an assist. Junior goaltender Alex Clayton notched with win for Wayzata.

Eastview goaltender Ryan O’Shea lived up to his team’s name – Lightning – with quick moves that stopped 37 shots. Wayzata senior forward Matt Straate beat O’Shea high on the short side in the first period for the Trojan’s lone goal. Assisting Straate were seniors Kevin Blackley and captain Billy Soule. Simcoe had 20 saves for the Trojans and recorded his third shut-out of the season.

Seniors led the way in Wayzata’s 9-2 win over
Wayzata will put its winning streak on the line this week as it begins conference play. The Trojans face
