Games to watch on Saturday, February 7th

Eden Prairie (17-3-0) at Burnsville (10-9-1), 7:30 PM | Burnsville Ice Center
:: Burnsville is 4-0-1 in their last five games
:: Eden Prairie is riding a seven game winning streak
:: Eden Prairie won the first meeting 3-1 at Eden Prairie on January 8th

Elk River/Zimmerman (11-7-1) at Blaine (18-1-1), 7:30 PM | Fogerty Arena
:: Since going 1-6 from the middle of December to the middle of January, the Elks are 5-1-1 since
:: Blaine has a loss against Edina and a tie against Centennial
:: These two teams played back in early December and the Bengals won 3-1

Hill-Murray (13-6-1) at St. Thomas Academy (16-3-1), 7:30 PM | St. Thomas Ice Arena
:: St. Thomas Academy is 10-0-1 in their last 11 games
:: St. Thomas Academy has been averaging 5.9 goals per game in their last 10 wins
:: Hill-Murray started the season 7-0-0. Since then, they are a humble 6-6-1
:: Hill-Murray needs this win for a confidence boost going into the playoffs

Maple Grove (15-2-3) at Centennial (15-1-3), 7:30 PM | Centennial Sports Arena
:: Maple Grove may be the most under appreciated team in Class AA
:: These two teams played on January 10th, Centennial won 2-1
:: In that game, Centennial outshot Maple Grove 37-28
:: Tyler Pitlick (Cen) did not play in that game and Hess & Lovick were shutout

Moorhead (9-8-2) at Bloomington Jefferson (20-0-0), 2:30 PM | BIG Arena
:: We will find out if the best team in 8AA, Moorhead, has anything for the mighty Jaguars
:: Jefferson has shutout their last two opponents, seven total opponents this year
:: Moorhead has been shutout four times this season but are still the top 8AA team

New Ulm (14-4-1) at Sartell-St. Stephen (13-6-1), 7:00 PM | Bernick's Pepsi Arena
:: New Ulm is 8-0-1 in their last nine games
:: New Ulm: How good are you? They have lost to Hutchinson and Minnehaha Academy
:: Sartell-St. Stephen is 11-1-1 since December 30th - lost to Little Falls & tied Alex
:: I am curious to see if New Ulm, which may be the team that represents Section 3A in the state tournament, can hang with the Sabres who has an outside shot to beat Alex and Little Falls for Section 6A

Other games to keep an eye on:

Minnetonka at Hopkins, 3:00 PM | Hopkins Pavilion Ice Arena
:: Can Hopkins pull off another Edina-like upset to throw another seedings wrench into Section 6AA?

Rochester Lourdes at Albert Lea, 2:00 PM | Albert Lea City Arena

:: Lourdes won 5-0 over Albert Lea on December 30th | Important matchup for seedings positioning

South St. Paul at Tartan, 3:00 PM | Tartan Ice Arena
:: Tartan is another team that may below most people's radar in Class AA. They may become the second seed in Section 4AA. Since starting the season 2-3-0, they are 11-2-1 since including a 1-1 tie with Hill-Murray, Section 4AA number one seed right now.
:: South St. Paul is 10-2-2 since December 18th. One of the losses was to Tartan, 5-2, on January 8th.

Wayzata at Edina, 3:00 PM | Braemar Arena
:: Edina has been trying to score goals but the opposing goaltenders seem to have them figured out. The Hornets have scored 10 goals in their last four games. They lost three out of the four games even though the Hornets outshot all four opponents.
:: Wayzata's Ty Simcoe is a goalie that is consistently stingy about giving up goals. The Trojans find themselves trying to get back on track having lost three of their last five but winning their last two.
:: Edina defeated Wayzata 5-0 on January 22nd, right before they lost their next three out of four games.
