Alexandria 4, Brainerd/Pillager Pierz 2

A: Thomas Williams (1) 1g, 1a, Kirby Nelson (1), Nick Swanson (1), Garrett Skinner (1)
A: Jacob Rusch 23 Saves | Win
BPP: Brett Jenkins (3), Brandon Wing (1) sh

Benilde-St. Margaret's 2, Hill-Murray 2 OT-TIE
BSM: Bret Patterson (1), Patrick Steinhauser (3)
BSM: Jacob Meyers 40 Saves | Tie
H-M: Willie Faust (2, 3)
H-M: Tim Shaughnessy 30 Saves | Tie
Note: Benilde-St. Margaret's took a 2-0 lead and dominated, in all aspects, the first period. Hill-Murray completely turned things around and they had the Red Knights backed up in their own zone for most of the 2nd and 3rd periods and during overtime. BSM goaltender Jacob Meyers was the difference. Not only did he stop several point blank shots by the Pioneers but Meyers also stopped a penalty shot by Jack Walsh with 1:12 left in the game. Walsh took a hard forehand shot to Meyers' glove side and Meyers caught it and the glove did not flinch an inch. It was a confident stop. After the 2nd goal by Willie Faust, Meyers was literally a brick wall. He was aggressively solid and unwavering. As I stated before, he was the best goaltender in the Elite League in October and November and, right now, he has my nod as the best net-minder in the state.

Note: I was expecting St. Thomas Academy to be a little rusty because this was their first game of the season but, from watching them on streaming online video, they looked like a well-oiled machine. There was very little rest for the John Russell and the Mustangs in their own end. The Cadets fired 56 shots on Russell. Russell and two shorthanded goals kept Breck in the game.

Note: Tom Windle scored for Osseo with 1:18 left in the game to force OT and the tie. Four must be Wayzata's magic number. They have scored four goals in each of their last four games. These two teams could not have not been more even in this game. Shots were 24-23 in favor of Osseo. Both teams converted on two powerplays (2 for 5 for Osseo, 2 for 3 for Wayzata), and both teams traded goals in the first two periods. It was 2-1-1 goals by period for Wayzata and 1-1-2 for Osseo.
