NCAA Division I Championship Tournament - Stat ranking the 16 teams

These stats are this season's team stats, regular season and playoffs, for the sixteen teams in the Division I Championship Tournament and then ranking them one through 16 based on those stats.

It is a simple system. It's not some big mathematical equation and it does not take strength of schedule into consideration. I did the same thing for the Minnesota high school state tournament teams and it seemed to work out pretty well. The two best teams in Class A met in the championship and the two best teams in Class AA met in the state semifinals and then went four overtimes. Of course, there were one or two teams that did not live up to the rankings. There is no perfect system.

The overall rank is adding up the rankings for each team in each category divided by the five categories.

GPG = Goals Per Game
SPG = Shots Per Game
GAA = Goals Against Average (goals allowed per game)
SAPG = Shots Allowed Per Game
