The 17 selections equals last year’s crop of Elite League draft picks, and this year’s group produced four first-round picks, compared to two in 2009. The four first-rounders – Derek Forbort, Nick Bjugstad, Emerson Etem and Brock Nelson – were part of a record 11 American-born first-round picks.
“The league congratulates all of our players selected,” said John Russo, Elite League founder and Commissioner. “We’re proud of the opportunity we provided them to advance their hockey careers.”
