2010 NAHL Draft - Top Three Rounds

NAHL Entry Draft
Wednesday, May 26th, 2010
1:00 PM Central Time

I am going to follow today's 2010 NAHL Entry Draft for, at least, the first three rounds and provide relevant information on the players as I am able to. You can also follow the selections live on Twitter (www.twitter.com/nahlhockey)

The NAHL (North American Hockey League) is a Junior A, Tier II hockey league. There were 19 teams in the league in 2009-2010. There will be 26 in 2010-2011 with six new expansion teams along with some other teams relocating. The divisional alignments for next season have yet to be determined.

The expansion teams include: Aberdeen (SD) Wings, Amarillo (TX) (Nickname TBD), Austin (MN) Bruins, Chicago (IL) Hitmen, Dawson Creek (BC, CN) Rage, Fresno (CA) Monsters, and the New Mexico Mustangs.

Marquette (MI) is relocating to Flint (MI) and will be named the Michigan Warriors.

Northern Iowa is relocating to Onalaska (WI) and will be named the Coulee Region Chill.

Albert Lea (MN) has a franchise status that has yet to be determined. The league had to take over the team during the season last year and they currently do not have any buyers for the team. I am going to assume that Albert Lea will be removed from the league. They are not among the 25 other teams that are drafting today.

Follow The Puck on Twitter

During the off-season, I do not do much with the site. I've grown tired and frustrated with its current blog layout. I do have someone working on building a new website for me. With a new site, not a blog, I'll be able to provide my visitors with better information and layout the information properly.

The new site will not have a lot of 'fluff' or 'flair' with over-the-top graphics but it will have solid statistics and information on players and teams from several leagues across the United States, not just Minnesota. It will be a site that does what no other current hockey website is doing or has done. If you need a visual, think of a site geared more toward something similar to College Hockey News.

The NAHL (North American Hockey League) draft is tomorrow, Wednesday, May 26th, 2010 at 1:00 PM Central. You can either follow me or follow the NAHL @NAHLhockey. 95 Minnesotans started the 2009-2010 season on an NAHL roster. With the league expanding to 25 teams, we should see over 100 players from Minnesota drafted into this Junior A, Tier II league.

I am updating Twitter almost daily. If you have a Twitter account, follow me here @followthepuck. Let's see if we can get the number of followers up to 1,000 by Summer's end!

Enjoy the Stanley Cup! Philadelphia vs. Chicago! It should be a great one!

Ethan Prow (Sauk Rapids-Rice) commits to St. Cloud State

Kevin Allenspach of the St. Cloud Times is reporting that Sauk Rapids junior defenseman Ethan Prow has made a verbal commitment to play for St. Cloud State University. Prow turns 18 next November. The 5'10", 165 lb junior scored 42 points, 20 goals and 22 assists, during the 2009-2010 season for the Storm. The Storm (Class A) finished 14-12-1.

Where are 2010 Stanley Cup players born?

Congratulations to the Philadelphia Flyers and the Chicago Blackhawks for making into the NHL's 2010 Stanley Cup!
