Doug's Wish | Class AA Quarterfinal Matchups

All of the Section Champions have been crowned. Now, this weekend, the winning Coaches will decide, will vote on which four teams of the eight will be seeded one through four. Then, the non-seeded teams will be randomly drawn to see which will play against the seeded teams.

Below is my HOPE, my WISH on how the seedings will turn out to be and then my HOPE, my WISH on how the drawings would fall into place. This is only my hope for how the random matchups turn out. I am sure we will all find out the TRUE results sometime on Saturday or Sunday at the latest.

This is how I would like the matchups to randomly fall into place:

#1-seed Eden Prairie vs. Lakeville North
The best offense in the tournament versus one of the two best goaltenders in the tournament.

#2-seed Edina vs. White Bear Lake
Two teams that have not faced each other in either the regular season or the playoffs in years.

#3-seed Duluth East vs. Moorhead
It does eliminate one of the two outstate teams chances to win a state title but I want to see if the Spuds/Bitzer can inflict revenge for the 6-0 loss they took at home from the Hounds earlier in the season. I would say no.

#4-seed Blaine vs. Eagan
Again, this is a game that you do not know what you are going to get. I cannot find when these two teams last played each other if ever.

Class A hopes:

#1-seed St. Thomas Academy vs. New Ulm
David vs. Goliath

#2-seed Hermantown vs. Alexandria
David #2 vs. Goliath #2

#3-seed Rochester Lourdes vs. Thief River Falls
Defensive, physical battle

#4-seed Breck School vs. Hibbing/Chisholm
Potential for a goal-scoring frenzy - both teams have been wishy-washy this year.
