Class AA TRUE? Rankings - February 13th, 2012

SCORING - Wins versus teams that have a .500 or better record - Number of wins opponents have versus .500 or better opponents Example: Duluth East has 14 wins versus opponents with a .500 or better record. Of those 14 opponents, they won 84 games total against teams with a .500 or better record. I do not figure in ties or games versus teams from other states.  The 'system' IS FLAWED. No statistical system can accurately rank a league that has so many teams and most of those teams do not play each other.  Plus, even though the MSHSL recognizes them as legitimate games, you have to throw out all games against Class A teams and teams from different states.  They are essentially exhibition games since they are not a factor in winning a Class AA state title.  To be more accurate, I would have to throw out those 'exhibition' games to identify teams that have a .500 or better record against Class AA teams only. Also, head-to-head games do matter.  Maple Grove beat Edina twice.  Edina has been successful with a more difficult overall schedule.  Maple Grove's wins over Edina should take precedence. A human element is needed to find some common sense outside of the numbers.  In the end, it is just FUN READING.
