A sound beating

by Jim Bastian

NEW ULM — Plain and simple, it was 51 minutes of total domination.

Sean Stewart recorded a hat trick with Wade French and Kyle Reinarts each scoring two goals as the New Ulm Eagles made it look easy with a 9-0 pounding of Marshall Thursday night in nonconference hockey.

Mitch Traulich and Tye Kjelberg scored the other Eagle goals as New Ulm out-shot the Tigers 51-18 in the contest. Stewart added three assists with French and Reinarts each getting two helpers.

New Ulm goalie Justin Wiggins, who played well in New Ulm’s 4-0 loss to Shattuck, had another exceptional game as he blanked the Tigers.

Marshall goalie Paul Ivers was pounded each period by an Eagle offense that smelled blood from 7:36 of the first period when Reinarts scored the initial New Ulm goal and never let up.
