It has been a pretty even game so far. Both teams have had a couple of scoring chances. Breck had a nice wraparound but Nick Heimer stopped that cold.
End of the 1st period.
Joe Rehkamp gets the Breck Mustangs on the board early in the second period courtesy of a Riley Borer rebound.
Mike Morin strikes for the Mustangs on a 5-on-3 powerplay. It was a beautiful shot high over Heimer's left shoulder.
John Russell has been incredible for the Mustangs in goal. He has stopped some point blank shots and he redirected a shot by Taylor Funk with the knob of stick that made the puck go just wide. It was a wide open net for Funk to shoot at.
Nick Heimer has also been solid in goal. He stopped a 2-on-1 scoring chance with Rehkamp leading the charge for Breck.
End of the second period.
Early in the third, Lourdes had several good chances full strength and on the powerplay but the Breck defense was able to deny good shots and Russell came up with a couple of good saves.
On the other end, Riley Borer went one-on-one with Nick Heimer and Heimer came up big with a nice glove save.
Cole Peterson had an excellent chance for Lourdes one-on-one with John Russell with just over two minutes to go and Russell stopped him cold.
Mike Morin scores an empty net goal to seal the win for Breck.
The game became a defensive struggle with some near misses and a lot of excellent goaltending on both sides.
Game is over.
