Are you ready for some hockey? MJHL starts tonight

The Minnesota Junior Hockey League, a Junior A Tier III league, opens up their season tonight in Maple Grove. The Edina Lakers will travel to Maple Grove to take on the Minnesota Wildcats at the Maple Grove Community Center at 7:30 PM.

The Wilcats will be at home again tomorrow to face the Minnesota Ice Hawks (Rochester, MN)) at 7:30. The rest of the nine total MJHL teams will open up play next weekend.

Look for a list of 100 total Minnesota players in the league to be displayed on this website this weekend.

Players of note from the 2008-2009 Minnesota high school season include Class AA leading scorer and St. Cloud State recruit, Joey Benik of St. Francis. He is on the roster for the Minnesota Owls (Isanti, MN). As a junior, he played for St. Francis high school in 2008-2009. He will be 18 in January.

Other notables in the league include Sean Randall (Coon Rapids), Tony Pittman (Woodbury), Jordan Prescher-Smerud (Albert Lea), Julius Tamasy (Duluth East), Alex Whitney (Rochester Mayo), Rick Weber (Rochester Mayo), Daniel Anderson (Moose Lake Area), and Mitchell Wynia (St. Louis Park).
