Freelance Writers Wanted

CHANGE: I have decided not to have writers this year just because the fact that the current website has no real room for them. I am going to wait until next year and hope that I have a different layout for the site so the stories are easy to ready and find.

I am looking for writers from throughout Minnesota that would like to write about Minnesota high school hockey during the upcoming season. I'm looking for enough writers to cover all sections throughout the state. I am most interested in stories on varsity games during the season.

Unfortunately, this is not a paying position. This is a place to display your writing talents and show off your passion for high school hockey. With over several thousands of visitors to the site this past season and higher expectations for this next season, you and your write-ups will get noticed. It may lead to other (paying) opportunities in the future. It may even lead to a future full-time position with FollowThePuck.com. To cover a section or part of a section, you must be impartial and keep a positive rapport with each team's coaches, team, and the community. I am looking for someone that can commit to writing at least two game stories a week from early December to March in their area/section of the state.

Even if you are just looking for a way to support your hockey team, write-ups on your team will be welcomed too! Commitment, though, is required. If you would like to write for your team, you must commit to writing a game story for a majority of the games that they play during the season, even the away games. You may be partial in your writings but the writings must stay positive. No negative comments on your team or opposing teams will be allowed. The game stories do not have to be long. They can be as little as two paragraphs long but they must include distinct details about the game and, preferably, a quote from the coach about the game.

If you are interested in joining the FollowThePuck.com writing team, please contact me at

FYI .. if you have emailed me before with interest in writing stories, please contact me again. Thank you.
