The Next Level: Day 2 of the USHL Fall Classic

In day two (Friday) of the USHL Fall Classic, the Minnesotans on the Fargo Force decided that it was better to score than sit in the penalty box. Corey Leivermann (Mankato West), Nate Schmidt (St. Cloud Cathedral), and Chris Stafne (Duluth Denfeld) all scored goals in the Force's 5-3 preseason win over the defending USHL Champions, the Indiana Ice. Leivermann also added two assists.

Ryan Walters (St. Thomas Academy) scored a shorthanded goal late in the first period putting Des Moines up 1-0 and they never trailed after that. Des Moines won 3-2 over Youngstown. Taylor Wolfe (Eden Prairie) had an assist for Des Moines in that game.

Anders Lee (Edina) scored a powerplay goal with 8:46 remaining in the third period to help the Green Bay Gamblers tie the game with the Lincoln Stars, 2-2, and send it into overtime. Nick Jensen (Rogers) added an assist on Lee's goal. The game ended up in a shootout that the Gamblers won, 1-0.

The USHL will finish up their Fall Classic on Saturday with a full slate of seven games throughout the day. The regular season starts next Friday night, October 2nd.
