The Next Level: Day 3 of the USHL Fall Classic

On Saturday, the last day of the Fall Classic, Cedar Rapids defeated Lincoln 5-1 and was declared the champion of the three-day preseason event. Both Cedar Rapids and Sioux Falls went 3-0 but the champion was decided by goal differential. Sioux Falls outscored their opponents 15-5, Cedar Rapids 16-4.

Nobody from Minnesota scored in the Cedar Rapids/Lincoln game while Nick Mattson (Chaska) assisted on a goal in the Sioux Falls 4-2 win over Indiana.

The Green Bay Gamblers finished the event with a 2-1 record and with a win over the Fargo Force, 5-3. Anders Lee (Edina) and Ryan Furne (Hill-Murray) scored the two-third period goals to secure the win for the Gamblers. Joe Rehkamp (Breck School) scored in the first period and Chris Stafne (Duluth Denfeld) collected an assist in third period for Fargo. Fargo finished the Fall Classic winning one game and losing two.

Lee (Edina), weighing in at 6'2" and 216 lbs., got in a first period fight with Grant Scott (6'2", 210).

The Tri-City Storm went winless in the Fall Classic but Max Tardy (Duluth East) scored both goals in their 3-2 loss to Youngstown on Saturday.

Ryan Walters (St. Thomas Academy) scored a empty-net powerplay goal for Des Moines in their 4-2 win over USNTDP. Derek Forbort (Duluth East) had an assist for USNTDP.

Tyler Barnes (Burnsville) scored a second period goal to help with the Waterloo Black Hawk's 4-3 shootout win over the Chicago Steel. Dan Sova (Hill-Murray), Wally Cossette (Maple Grove), and J.T. Brown (Rosemount) each collected an assist in the game for the Black Hawks.
