Today's Schedule | Friday, December 4th, 2009

Friday, December 4th, 2009

My picks are in RED.

Bagley/Fosston (8A) at Ely/T-S/B-E (7A), 7:30PM | Ely Ice Arena
___________________________________________________

Blaine (5AA) at Roseau (7AA), 7:30PM | Roseau Memorial Arena
:: Note: This will be the first game of the year for Blaine. Roseau defeated Thief River Falls, 6-3, on Thursday in their first game. Down 3-1, the Rams offense exploded with five goals in the third period. Last year at Fogerty Arena in Blaine, Blaine defeated Roseau 4-1.

Key players:
Blaine: F Nick Bjugstad, F Gavin Tufte, D Tony Larson, G Dan Harper
Roseau: F Shane Omdahl, F Adam Knochenmus, G Ethan Kvidt

Brainerd/P/P (8AA) at East Grand Forks (8A), 7:30PM | East Grand Forks Civic Center
Grand Forks Central (ND) at Crookston (8A), 7:30PM | Crookston Civic Arena
Henry Sibley (3AA) at Dodge County (1AA), 7:30PM | Four Seasons Arena
Hermantown (5A) at Sauk Rapids-Rice (5A), 7PM | Sports Arena East
Lake of the Woods (8A) at Silver Bay/Cook County (7A), 8PM | Rukavina Arena
Little Falls (6A) at Virginia/MIB (7A), 7:30PM | Miners Memorial Arena
___________________________________________________

Minnetonka (6AA) at Hibbing/Chisholm (7A), 7:30PM | Hibbing Memorial
:: Note: Hibbing/Chisholm has a great 3-0 start to the season. They have allowed their three opponents an average of just 16.7 shots and 1.33 goals per game. Now, coming to Hibbing tonight is arguably the best offense in the entire state of Minnesota in high school hockey, the Minnetonka Skippers. The Skippers averaged 7.5 goals and 32 shots per game in their first two games this season against quality opponents in Duluth Marshall and highly-ranked Woodbury. It will be interesting to see if the Bluejackets can slow down the Skippers.

Monticello/A/ML (8AA) at Bemidji (8AA), 7:30PM | Nymore Arena
Moorhead (8AA) at Grand Rapids (7AA), 7:30PM | IRA Civic Center
Park Rapids Area (8A) at Walker-H-A (8A), 7:30PM | Walker Area Comm Center
Pine City/Rush City (5A) at Chisago Lakes Area (4A), 7PM | Chisago Lakes Ice Arena
Sleepy Eye Area (3A) at Worthington/RL-B (3A), 7PM | Worthington Arena
___________________________________________________

St. Cloud Cathedral (5A) at Sartell-St. Stephen (6A), 7PM | Bernick’s Pepsi Arena
:: Note: This should be a great game between two close communities. St. Cloud Cathedral will be without Alex Koopmeiners as he is healing from a fractured collarbone. He could be back next week. Sartell-St. Stephen had a few players on the football team that played in the Class 4A championship game so they are trying to regain their skating legs. Senior Brent Orndorff, Sartell-St. Stephen's starting goaltender, will not be playing in this game as he was on that football team and not ready to play hockey. The Sabres will most likely start Alex Halupczok in goal.

Key players:
SC Cathedral: F Jordan Palusky, F Kyle Kudak, G Nick Maiers
Sartell-SS: F Matt & Ryan Nahan, F Austin Plaine, F Andrew Worzala
