Championship
Apple Valley 4, Woodbury 0
AV: AJ Michaelson 2g |1en|, 2a, Hudson Fasching 2 goals |GWG 10:36 into the 2nd period|
AV: Aaron Gretz 27 Saves | Shutout Win
W: Michael Ness 35 Saves | Loss
Note: Aaron Gretz will be a name that folks from Woodbury will remember for years to come. He shutout Woodbury by saving all 30 shots in the playoffs last year and he does it again in the Section 3AA championship this year. Also, AJ Michaelson scored the game-winning goal for Apple Valley last year. Michaelson scores two goals against them in this one.
Apple Valley earns their way to the state tournament for the first time ever at the Xcel Energy Center. They last appeared in the state tournament at the St. Paul Civic Center in 1996.

Section 7AA
Championship
Duluth East 5, Elk River/Zimmerman 1
DE: Andy Welinski 1g, 2a | GWG 6:34 into the 2nd period
DE: Kevin Brazerol 1g, 1a, Dom Toninato 1g, 1a
DE: Kyle Lutzka 1 goal, Nolan Meyer 1 goal
DE: Jo Jo Jeanetta 18 Saves | Win
ERZ: Austen Bryan 1 goal
ERZ: Anders Franke 28 Saves | Loss
Note: It is hard to overcome the Greyhounds defense. Duluth East advances to the Class AA state tournament for the second year in a row. They will probably not be one of the top four seeds going into the state tournament but I would not want to face Duluth East in the quarterfinals.

Section 8A
Championship
Warroad 2, Thief River Falls 0
W: Brett Hebel GWG 10:42 into the first period, Brock Nelson 1 goal
W: Andy Foster 25 Saves | Shutout Win
TRF: Zane Gothberg 24 Saves | Loss
Note: Mr. Hockey Finalist Brock Nelson scored one while Brett Hebel scored the game-winner but it was Warroad's goaltending that did the Prowlers in. Andy Foster out-dueled the 2010 Frank Brimsek Award winner, Zane Gothberg, in goal. (One source said Eric Hebel scored the game-winner but I received an email stating that it in fact it was Brett Hebel that scored, not Eric.)
