The Minnesota Minutemen have announced the winner of the 27th Annual Mr. Hockey Award. It is Kyle Rau of Eden Prairie.
Rau and Eden Prairie won the Minnesota Boys Class AA State Tournament last night.

Kyle Rau finished the 2010-2011 season with 40 goals, 41 assists in 31 games. In the Class State Tournament, he had five goals and two assists including the championship game's game-winner in triple overtime.
Kyle Rau had five hat tricks during the season against Bloomington Jefferson, Maple Grove, Buffalo (4g), Wayzata, and Hopkins. His personal best for most points in a game this season was seven (1g, 6a) against Lakeville South. He had three five-point games and six four-point games.
Kyle Rau is a Minnesota Gophers recruit. He will be joining the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL shortly to help that team for the rest of the season. Ironically, Rau had initially committed to play for Sioux Falls the entire season but, with the help of his Eden Prairie teammates and his brother Curt Rau, a defenseman for Eden Prairie, Kyle decided that the best choice was to finish his senior year at Eden Prairie. Good choice.
Alex Lyon of Lake of the Woods High School in Baudette, Minnesota was awarded the 2011 Frank Brimsek Award for the top senior goaltender in Minnesota boys high school hockey. The only other finalist for this award as Andrew Ford of Eden Prairie. He was the winning goaltender for the State Champion Eden Prairie Eagles. The award was determined prior to the start of the state tournament.
Lyon's 2010-2011 statistics: 17-7-3, 1.60 GAA, .945 save percentage, 6 shutouts
Lyon faced an average of 29.19 shots per game. In 27 games played, he had only two games where he finished with a save percentage under .900.
Prior to the start of the 2010-2011 high school season with Lake of the Woods, Lyon posted the highest save percentage in the 2010 Upper Midwest High School Elite League, a showcase league of the best underclassmen in Minnesota. Lyon's stats in that league were 7-5-1, 2.84 GAA, .925 save percentage.
