St. Louis Park, MN - The Sports Authority Holiday Classic will begin December 27, 2012 at St. Louis Park Rec Center Ice Arena. As in previous years the tournament will feature eight teams with a winners and consolation bracket. The three day tournament will feature 4 varsity games and 4 junior varsity games per day.
“We are very thankful for the coaches and administration from all participating schools for their promotion and loyalty to the tournament.” Said tournament director John Barger, himself a longtime Minnesota varsity Hockey coach. “I’d also like to recognize and thank Sports Authority for their commitment to promoting high school hockey and our tournament.”
Six of the Eight participating teams are ranked in the top 20 in the state. Three are ranked in the top five. The hockey world has taken notice of this as last year’s tournament saw over 125 scouts from the USHL, NAHL, College and NHL.
The tournament begins at noon on December 27th with Bloomington-Jefferson playing Wayzata. Eden Prairie vs Moorhead will play at 2:30pm followed by Benilde-St. Margaret’s vs. Lakeville North at 5pm. The days final game will feature Elk River vs. Maple Grove at 730pm. Tickets for all games are $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $6 for students. The St. Louis Park ice arena has lots of free parking available.
