Ryan McDonagh (Cretin-Derham Hall) - 2007 Minnesota Mr. Hockey

Ryan McDonagh was selected 12th overall in the 2007 NHL Draft by the Montreal Canadiens.

McDonagh is entering his freshman season with the University of Wisconsin Badgers this Fall. See his Wisconsin profile here.

Minnesota Hockey Community - Follow The Puck!

I am dedicating this blog to the boys and mens' Minnesota hockey community with Minnesota High School Hockey as the main focus. I will also cover former Minnesota high school players or players that call Minnesota home at the next level up to a point. I will cover some junior hockey, some college hockey, and some hockey on the semi-professional and professional level as it relates to Minnesota or former Minnesota residents. I do have limits as there are several levels and several different leagues involved. Eventually, I'd like to cover Minnesota High School girls hockey as well.

As I said, Minnesota high school hockey is the focus. I will cover 3 levels of Junior A hockey as times permits including the USHL-Level I, NAHL-Level II, and the MJHL-Level III. After high school and juniors, I will be primarily focusing on the players from Minnesota at the levels above. I will cover college hockey on a limited basis focusing on the WCHA and hopefully former Minnesotans who play in NCAA Division I hockey elsewhere. I also plan on following former Minnesotans who now play in the American Hockey League and the National Hockey League.

This is my site and I will contribute hockey information that I consider important and interesting. I am open to suggestions and ideas. I would also appreciate your help. I will need scores sent to me right after the games are over either by email or Yahoo messenger or by text message. I will be compiling the statistics over the year and adding blog entries with this information including statistical leaders.

If you have verifiable information relevant to anything related to Minnesota high school hockey including alumni information, please email me with those details. It will be at my discretion whether or not I choose to post that info or not.

Brovold hired as new WHA boys' hockey coach

Chad Smith named ass't. coach

Ben Brovold of Walker has been hired as the head coach for the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley boys' hockey team's inaugural 2007-2008 season.

Brovold has been coaching in the youth levels of hockey for eight years and has coached many of the players who will be on the team.
